Rules and regulations for pilots

Rules and regulations for pilots at BlueNova Virtual Airlines.

Key rules

1.1

The applicant must be registered with an online network (VATSIM or IVAO). Without a valid network ID, you will not be admitted to BlueNova Virtual Airlines.

2.2

You must complete and submit at least one valid BlueNova flight every 30 days. After reactivating your account, you have 24 hours to fly; otherwise it becomes inactive again.

3.5

Only online flights (VATSIM/IVAO) are accepted. Offline flights are prohibited. A disconnect of up to 20 minutes is allowed.

5.2

On the radio, use the telephony “Blue Nova” followed by the digits of your callsign. Example: BNV650 = “Blue Nova six five zero”. Do not say “BlueNova flight” plus the schedule or charter flight number.

1) Registration rules

5 rules
  1. 1.1

The applicant must be registered with an online network (VATSIM or IVAO). Without a valid network ID, you will not be admitted to BlueNova Virtual Airlines.

  2. 1.2

The applicant must be at least 13 years old on the date of registration.

  3. 1.3

The applicant must provide their real identity. No nicknames or aliases.

  4. 1.4

The network ICAO of BlueNova Virtual Airlines is BNV (all scheduled, charter and private flights). BNO may be used for events/training. Do not use prefix BNC on VATSIM (conflicts with Barnacle Air / Sundance). On every online flight, use your assigned personal callsign: BNV (or BNO) plus up to 3 digits (e.g. BNV101, BNV650). New pilots receive BNV by default. After registration, staff assigns your callsign; you may submit a preference. See section 5 for VATSIM/IVAO radio and flight-plan guidance.

  5. 1.5

BlueNova has three operation divisions: Passenger (mainline/long-haul), Private Jets (business jets via charter) and Cargo (freighters). All divisions share the same VA, account and ranks. Ranks are based on flight hours. The fleet has 60 aircraft: 13× Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, 15× Boeing 737 MAX 8, 10× Airbus A320-252N, 12× Airbus A321-252NX, 6× Airbus A310-324 and 4× Embraer Phenom 300.

2) Account activity

5 rules
  1. 2.1

Your first flight must be flown and submitted within 7 days of acceptance. If this does not happen, your account will become inactive.

  2. 2.2

You must complete and submit at least one valid BlueNova flight every 30 days. After reactivating your account, you have 24 hours to fly; otherwise it becomes inactive again.

  3. 2.3

A maximum of three returns after inactivity is allowed. On a fourth inactivity, you may be permanently excluded. Contact the staff team before becoming inactive if you will be unable to fly for an extended period.

  4. 2.4

If you are unable to fly for an extended period, submit a Leave of Absence via Discord `/loa start` (or ask staff via the admin panel). Inactivity rules are paused during LOA.

  5. 2.5

If you are removed due to serious violations or fraud, re-registration is permanently not possible.

3) PiRep rejection reasons

7 rules
  1. 3.1

Flying an aircraft type that is not part of the BlueNova fleet.

  2. 3.2

Sim rate higher than 1x or air refueling is not permitted.

  3. 3.3

Landing rate of 400 ft/min or higher.

  4. 3.4

Simulation paused for longer than 2 minutes.

  5. 3.5

Only online flights (VATSIM/IVAO) are accepted. Offline flights are prohibited. A disconnect of up to 20 minutes is allowed.

  6. 3.6

Flights with single-engine aircraft are not accepted.

  7. 3.7

For every online flight, your VATSIM or IVAO ID must be listed in your profile and match the network on which you are flying. Otherwise, the PiRep will be automatically rejected.

4) Flight rules

2 rules
  1. 4.1

On a scheduled flight, you must complete the return flight within 48 hours. Aircraft left outside the hub without a booking will be returned to their hub by the staff team.

  2. 4.2

Private jet flights (Embraer Phenom 300 / E300) are booked via Charter. On VATSIM, connect with your personal BNV callsign (not BNC). Cargo flights will follow later; watch schedules and news. Long-haul passenger flights remain under Passenger (BNV), including A321LR, A310-300 and Boeing 787-10.

5) VATSIM & IVAO

5 rules
  1. 5.1

On VATSIM and IVAO, always connect with your assigned personal BlueNova callsign (BNV or BNO + digits), e.g. BNV650. Do not use a BNC callsign. Do not use the schedule flight number (e.g. BNV1282) or the charter reference (e.g. CHT-0282) as your network callsign.

  2. 5.2

On the radio, use the telephony “Blue Nova” followed by the digits of your callsign. Example: BNV650 = “Blue Nova six five zero”. Do not say “BlueNova flight” plus the schedule or charter flight number.

  3. 5.3

Schedule and charter flight numbers are for VA operations, bookings, SimBrief/OFP and PiReps only. ATC and the network hear your personal callsign.

  4. 5.4

Follow the VATSIM or IVAO Code of Conduct / network rules. Behave professionally, fly realistically and communicate clearly with ATC (English by default, unless ATC allows a local language).

  5. 5.5

In your flight plan/remarks always include: CS/BLUENOVA/BlueNova Virtual WEB/BLUENOVAV.COM (so VATSIM Radar shows BlueNova). Also include the correct aircraft type and route where relevant. Ensure your CID/VID in your BlueNova profile matches the network you are flying on (see also 3.7).
